Uncle!!!!
Enough with winter already!!
My mood keeps fluctuating between okay, and Grumpy! today. I don’t know if it is because Kurt Vonnegut decided to leave earth, the weather, my seedlings getting leggy, all the spam the blog has been getting (I’ve turned off the comments on a bunch of the hard hit posts) or PMS. There is an advisory to stay clear of this little slice of Vermont. There is low lying verbal shrapnel flying about.
And, ooh, look! I do knit.
I finished my Duval street socks about two weeks ago, no fanfare, no pictures taken. I didn’t even set out to take this one, but it happened.

Those aren’t white streaks across my shoes.
My camera managed to catch the snow flakes in action like that.
(effin snow. Bitter, much?)
I should go put the kettle on, sit on my tookas and knit and watch the Smurfs.
If that doesn’t make me feel better… There might be some heavy drinking going on later.

SERIOUSLY. I am so over this winter thing.
So sad about KV… Do they still show the smurfs?? Oh boy!

I am pretty understanding about Mother Nature’s quirks, but this is really going a bit far. That top photo looks like a lovely Christmas postcard. I was just driving down the road and thought to myself, this is RIDICULOUS. The forsythia is normally in bloom before now! pfffffffft

UGH! We’ve got the same weather thing going on, and I’m sick, probably PMSing, and I’ve been getting SPAMmed too. If we were closer we could get together for that big drink and have a great bitch session

It’s so pretty but it does get old…especially when you’re dying for spring!!

It rained here today. Does that make you happy?

I hear you about the weather. My kids started spring break today- it feels like a winter break to me! Keep knitting and drinking coffee and this too will pass!

Ouch. I think I just got hit by one some of that “verbal shrapnel” today. Oh wait, I think that the “verbal shrapnel” came out of me and it just backfired. The smurfs. I wonder what smurfette would wear in a snow storm. She only had 75 little white dresses. I guess they didn’t live in New England. Why was there only 1 girl smurf? Food for thought.

Hey, it is cold even in Maryland. I heard something on the news this evening and they mentioned the dreaded words of nor’easter developing this weekend. Sorry to rain on our snow, but if it happens….. And we would gladly take some moisture here because it is dry even though people don’t realize it.

I vote for the heavy drinking.

STILL snowing there? We have 47 F and the windows open! (sorry, that sounds like bragging… just astonishment.) Hope the winter up and leaves you soon - at least it’s good spinning and knitting weather… (good for naps too. And drinking. Baileys, that’s the way I’d do it up…)
Best of luck to you - summer IS on its way, even if it skips spring altogether!

Just back from the french alps. Last Wednesday was winter… snow… cold… then spring arrived with wall to wall sunshine for three days but very icy pistes each morning, then a bit more snow… then sun! Its weather, not climate. Home in Yorkshire its spring for the moment but I can’t decide to make my next socks cotton or wool- you just can’t tell! My seedlings in the polytunnel wilt in the heat of the day but shiver at night! Love your socks -home knit socks & clogs are the BEST comfy footwear!

I agree with you about the snow, although the picture you posted is beautiful.
But the Smurfs? That alone might make me start drinking heavily.

We’ve just had wicked rain yesterday, the ocean keeps the snow at bay usually. But I was thinking that I’ve been able to keep wearing my wool socks longer this season because of this strange weather! Maybe it’s time to look into other fibers for socks?

That sounds like a good knitting plan, but don’t forget that alarm you have — the moment your butt hits the seat there will be urgent needs of the children’s that need to be met! I have to admit that the only positive I’ve been able to come up with for the impending mid-April blizzard is more knitting time.

HEY!!! The sun came out! It’s still in the 40s, but the SUN CAME OUT! So it must be headed your way.

Spam and a long drawn out winter. Drinks are needed for sure! Just ordered some of your beautiful roving. Can’t wait to get it and spin it into some lovely yarn.

We lucked out here in the snow department. We ended up with just lots of rain. Love the socks!
April 13th, 2007 | #
wow. they threaten us with snow this weekend, I hope they are wrong!
April 13th, 2007 | #
oh my god! I can’t believe you are getting more snow! sigh. I hope it melts soon. and stays that way!!
You socks look lovely, tho!
April 14th, 2007 | #
I am so sorry m’dear. It does look quite pretty though.
Your socks are lovely. Could we have just a bit of fanfare?
April 14th, 2007 | #
I am drinking a glass of wine, watching it slowly turn white outside, although nothing like what you are getting. What the hell, Mother Nature?
April 14th, 2007 | #
Luckily we’re getting more snow because the other stuff melted!
Hopefully it’ll stop by Tuesday for knitting.

I am so glad to know the smurf comforts someone besides me! And we are cold here too, but no snow! So much for Spring, even down here!

I don’t dare comment on the winter thing, as we didn’t get as much as usual this past year and it is bothering me, but there’s no easy way to trade places, so don’t come looking at photos of green things. I love the blue socks and clogs in the snow, though I felt a chill for you… your dyeworks have been prolific and wonderfully colorful!
April 16th, 2007 | #
The blue socks are beautiful and your snowscape is absolutely glorious. (You miss what you don’t have to shovel when you’ve been gone from it a long time.)
April 16th, 2007 | #
Holy smurfin’ snow, Papa Smurf!! Hopefully it’s mostly melted by now (that’s how far behind I am on blogs…whole seasons are passing…) ;o)
Great sockage!

Oh, and there’s an addon for Wordpress that automatically shuts off comments on posts that are 21 days old or older…that may help?
