now, that’s some serious ugly
What I’m about to show you may hurt the eyes and sensibilities.
Nonetheless, I’m going to show it anyway.. Based on principle.
My Fiber Friday for this week.
(topic=Recycle)

spun plastic grocery bags, with one strand of wooly nylon & one of some mystery thread that i knoped up and down the length as i went along.
- 26 yards
- 11 WPI
An interesting spin. Odd memory issues.
I got about 2 yards per bag. One day, when I have some ‘free time’ I think I’ll spin up more to knit up a market bag out it.
A true testament that one can spin anything.
These bags will be in landfills for many generations; so we will never be out of things to spin… (granted, I wouldn’t want to wear a scarf or socks made out of plastic like this…..)
It really gave me a good pause; thinking about how much “disposable” stuff we have.
Anyway, I’m still in the land of procrastination.
I’m working on getting Pippi updated today; so stay tuned!
It just might take me all day to do, as the kids seem a bit bonkers this morning. Whoopeee! Good times, good times!
♥

I mean no disrespect, and I’ve never spun and have no intention of doing so, and I think it’s really awesome that you CAN spin anything, but at first glance I thought this was a pile of pig intestines. You may bitch-slap me now…..
Hehehehe… LOL!

I knit a dress out of plastic bags once. The top part was all wrong (I didn’t have time to change it), but the bottom was awesome because I threw lots of plastic bag fringe on it, so I rustled when I walked. I recommend you make yourself a skirt, cause then you can have wear something underneath and still be comfortable.
I don’t think it’s so ugly. It’s not gorgeous or anything, but I’ve seen uglier things. Hell, I just bought uglier (yarn) things at a garage sale yesterday.

That’s probably the best use I’ve seen for plastic grocery bags! I despise them and try to avoid getting them at any cost. I carry my big bag full of canvas bags every time I go shopping. I get very sad when I leave them at home and have to use the plastic ones. I can’t bring myself to throw them away either.

Wow, that’s something else. Was it hard on your hands to spin the plastic bags?

Oh thank goodness you said it was ugly. I came to your site through Craftzine- and some of the stuff they have, and some of the other stuff on the pages they link to- UGLY. And Freakish. I got an ideological gap a mile wide on some of that stuff there.

At first glance this reminded me of the creature from the black lagoon! hahaha, and you know I mean that with all the love in my heard.
On second glance, I think this is a very cool statement, and if you can knit up a market bag, all the better. Very cool xoxoxo
