saturday sky & tag sale misadventures.

August 12th, 2006

time for saturday sky!

3pm

an absolutely PERFECT day.
i can even smell fall in the air. in fact, last night i had to go cover up the tomatoes, we dipped down to 38 (f). kind of mind blowing when it was 90 earlier in the week. i welcome this weather with open arms. now, i just need to find a climate where it is like this all year round, i want to move there. never too much above 70 and never getting below 35.
today was also the perfect day for tag sales.
except….
well, i had a bit of an “accident” at one.
i pulled up to the house, along the side of the road, and drove right into a ditch. in my defense, the whole ditch was covered in brush. it wasn’t like i saw the ditch and neglected to avoid it. i had to call triple a to come tow us out; while on the phone with the triple a-ers they asked me for the make and model. i don’t know these things… so i had to ask matt…
me: matt, what kind of subaru is it?
him: fucking stuck.
this went on for the whole 45 some odd minutes while waiting for the tow truck.
various “funny” jabs at mom.
it is known both far and wide, that i hate to drive; and in fact, i’m not very good at it. (might be related to my dislike of said activity.)

on the plus side, i got some chick corea records at that yard sale, and some vintage knitting books.
none of which i can look at or listen to, since they are in the back of said subaru; which is en route to the disc golf course.
when matt was pulling down the drive way the following conversation took place:
me: i hope you drive into a ditch!!!!!! (hormonal retaliation for all the ‘good natured ribbing’ i had to deal with)
him: um, yea, that won’t happen.

of course it won’t; but for once i wish he had to walk in my clumsy shoes.

i really want a nap; but that is something that won’t happen either. so coffee it is.

I love your sky! You even caught the depth to the clouds. Nice. As for finding someplace with the perfect weather, you’re looking for Monterey, CA. Temp varies by about 10* all year round. I loved it for a while but I got bored with it eventually. It’s nice to whap a snowball at a fresh kid once in a while or take refuge from the heat in a kid’s little plastic swimming pool cause getting to the lake or the beach is too much effort in the heat. Or crack on someone sitting in a ditch.

I’m with you on the weather thing! I am SO much more a fall/spring kinda gal - I hate weather extremes (well, that’s not true, give me a severe thunderstorm any day!). If you find the place with perfectly temperate weather all year round, give me a shout!

70’s is about as hot as it usually gets in SF…. :) But we don’t have the kind of nature right here in the city that you have in your neighborhood. Don’t be too mad at yourself because of the ditch, at least nobody got hurt! I’ve done stupider things in my car, believe me.

    Coffee, how I love thee.
Sorry about the ditch. I’m hoping he drives in one too.
I agree about the weather, fall is the best. I’m loving the fact that I could wear my sweater today :)

*i* have driven into a ditch 2, count ‘em TWO times, so i feel your pain. once in high school, in a golf cart, which freakin’ rolled over, so there was absolutely no way to cover up the crime & pretend i knew what i was doing (er, donuts, to be honest; i was 17, what did they expect letting the new camp counselor have the keys to the cart??). and once at about 30, camping, and while *bragging* about my backing-up skills, no less. backed right into that sucker, just as i was saying i don’t know why so many women can’t seem to back up to save their asses, blahblahblah. you think *you* got ribbed? turns out that you can lever a honda wagon out of a ditch with a log round and a loooong branch, though. good to know, eh?

Another vote for San Francisco Bay Area weather. I am in Richmond which is in the East Bay. We are near the SF Bay and get a very moderate climate.

Sorry about the ditch and the annoying husband. I hate that, especially when they come as a package.
