tell me, how much does size really matter?
is it really the size of the boat, or the motion of the ocean?
is it girth or length?
apparently, to some breeds of knitter size counts!
when i first started selling my handspun yarn, i would answer the question ‘why aren’t your hanks bigger?” at least twice a week.
(well, my bobbins can only hold *so much*) to satisfy these requests, i bought myself a bulky spinner. now, i can get an entire dyelot on a bobbin. it has been a kind of mental challenge to try to fill it up.
and finally!! i did. (hey, i’m impressed; i have some girth and length happening here. very satisfying.)

i most likely could have squeezed maybe another ounce on there… maybe.

it is BIG!
458 yards, and one pound.
(ok, i need to say it again, because it is a major feat for me, 458 yards of bulky weight!!!)
and just for scale.. it is the size of a small baby.

i’m sure no one is as impressed as i am, but i don’t expect it. it is my own little milestone, or hurdle. so, it is cool for me.
and if anyone can guess the shirt i’m wearing venue and date(s) gets a prize. (hint: obviously a grateful dead shirt.)
♥

Oh wow!!! I’m impressed! I couldn’t imagine spinning an entire pound of any one thing altogether. It is gorgeous, by the way.

You can count me as impressed. I’m still working on getting up to 1/2lb skein…but that’s also related to my defective jumbo flyer.

I know the t-shirt. you attended the concert with Ann but the ticket stub is lost and there is no recollection of it whatsoever except it’s awesome.

It’s not the size of the boat or the motion of the ocean,
it’s whether or not you can get the boat into port without it capcizing.

OMG ‘Nuff said.
That really is a major deal. I spin. I know. And I have tiny bobbins. Good job. Hell, EXCELLANT job. And it’s pretty, too. (Is pretty ok?)

[…] somehow, i’ve developed a spinning injury. my first. i pulled something in the back of my treadle leg. i think it has something to do with spinning upwards of 100 yards of coils the other day. (do the math, that is alot of yarn. heh.) i think i spun well over 3k yards of yarn this week. i digress, the back of my leg is all hurty, from the knee region, to my foot.. (and my foot goes numb on occasion… whaaaa???) i have poor circulation anyway, but i can tell this is different. anyway, i’m going to push thru it and finish this today. big blue (yes, like the ox) (it won’t be as big as the pound of sunshine) but that’s okay by me. after spinning that, i kind of lost my thick and thin mojo for a few days. hopefully, i can get it washed and it will dry in time for an update of the shop tomorrow.
