hot pot of coffee!

May 30th, 2006

wow! long weekend. i barley even noticed that today was tuesday, i’ve been so engrossed with this that and the other.
plus, my pee cee is having some issues. oh, the horror.(blue screen of death has been showing it’s face.)

i’ve got tons of stuff to try to manage to get done in the coming weeks. i should know better than to try to take on more than i can chew; but it seems to be my style. i’m thinking i won’t be doing a shop update this week. i’m a bit too busy planting some seeds. (both literly and figuratively.)

on today’s agenda, i’m going to spin these batts up.

they are navajo-churro, silk sari, angora, nylon, a touch of falklands and a dash of silk noil. (have to use up the pile of noils someplace, right?)
i hope that they are going to be part of a hi/low yarn, if all goes according to plan.

hum, so all this talk of plans and seeds and chewing. am i doing some top seekret ‘yarn spy’ stuff? (thanks jorgi for the “yarn spy” name, i love it…) well, nothing too skeetret, i assure you; but fun none the less. but, i give you my “yarn spy” photo.

thank you all who gave me input on which photo to send… (i sent in #1 and this is #2. my reasoning; with all of photo #1’s flaws, i think i look more empowered.) don’t know what i’m talking about? well, more will be revealed, later.

in one note of scary, matt took the kiddos down the road to a kid friendly swimmin’ hole the mad river. when they got home, i was greeted to bella talking about how she was okay, alive, yada… well, seems she went in a bit too deep. the extent of just how serious this incident actually was, was leaked out slowly. both from her, and her dad. apparently she could have very well have drowned. she took in lots of water and was puking…. i’m so glad i wasn’t there as i would have lost my shit. good thing for quick acting dads. she had a very restless sleep (well, duh.) it seems to be i need to get the kids in some swimming lessons for this summer. or somethin.

ok! i should get to work; too hot to do dyeing tho, that’s for sure! and the ac is still in storage

bring me something deep fried and covered in gravy.

May 26th, 2006

or chocolate… or deep fried and covered in chocolate. humm, fried ice cream covered in chocoate; a few cheesecakes? it is friday after all..
speaking of it being friday and all. i haven’t posted in fiber friday in a while…
but it was my topic, friendship. i posted it while getting set to go to NHSW to meet boogie in the fleshes.
so, i was feeling overcome with love, happiness, and excitement.

  • made from angora from wooly buns i got whilst withboogie .
  • garishly dyed ramie
  • garishly dyed hemp
  • reinforced with sparkles or as i say, *tinkle*.
  • carded with floor-sweepings (silk sari)
  • it was the yarn i was spinning in this here post
those descriptions are in italics because some boob went around dissing other people’s yarn. for no other reason than he has some stick up his ass wouldn’t spin yarn like that; or something… whatever gets you thru the day, i suppose? whatever makes you feel better about youownself? hurt all the people you want to? jealousy is a terrible monster, and it will eat you alive.
so, this week, it became multifaceted for me. (as it often does…)
rule #1 of friendship… have your sister’s back.

the third layer: of this onion of a friendship yarn, last week i met with some of my old friends, that i hadn’t seen in 8 years.

fourth layer: recently finding sam online and finding out that she is friends with the awesometacular purlewe the whole 6 degrease of separation thing blows my mind. (see i went to the same HS as slockwoo and we had recently been chatting via myspace, without realizing we had a mutual friend.)

i feel as if the universe is trying to tell me something. so that is why i’ve been mentioning

sam’s climb at every given opportunity. (haha! see, i just did it.)
if every person she ever knew, met or touched, could come out of the woodwork, she would by far surpass her goal.

fifth layer (or is it layer 4.5?):
everyone who has entered the words “bury the dragon” in my site’s checkout!
THANK YOU! (thank you for actually reading my newsletters, ha.) but seriously~!
thank you for taking the time to read about sam, and about HERA. thank you for making your own donations, thank you for forwarding it onto your friends and family. just, thank you. really. it warms my heart.
the final layer of this onion, this yarn is being shipped out to someone i’ve known only online for the past, nearly, 5 years. back in the hipMama days??

so, ogres, yarn, and friendship, all apparently are like onions.
but cake has layers, too…. ummm, cake.
but, i wonder, what exactly the universe is trying to tell me.. yea, it isn’t quite clear to me yet.

    it’s thursday!

    a room with a view

    May 24th, 2006

i’ve been pretty quite the past few days, yes.
life has been pretty full, you know the drill.

i’ve managed to get just a wee bit of spinning and dyeing done. (along with slowly processing my new fleece)
i needed to re-do hester due to a cart mishap, where my cart let two people buy the same yarn at the exact same minute! (i thought zen cart was supposed to solve that issue?… humph!) anyway, the reicipient is pleased with the new version, so yay.
since i’m into purples and browns i made a distant realitive of hester, in a handspun.

    nellie
    96 yards
    bulky thick and thin.
apricots, purples, browns with hints of blue and pink.

and i did some CPR and brought back choco bird.

    choco bird, 2ply
    186 yards of bulky goodness.

i’m still waiting on some other stuff to get dry, but mostly it has been a rather unproductive week.

although, i did create a flickr group for fiber friday.
    go join!

and i do have something awesome to pass on.

a friend, a knitter, a cancer survivor, is doing a climb for life,to raise money for HERA women’s cancer foundation.
from now until the day she climbs enter the code “bury the dragon” in the comments field when you check out at pippikneesocks and i’ll donate $5.

i think that is about it from me, apparently my ass has a silent alarm on it, and it alerts the children as to when i am sitting.

….disc golf widow… she’s got rage deep in her eyes….

    May 21st, 2006

today, i scored BIG, and got myself a beautiful navajo-churro fleece. from a cute little farm in underhill.

nothing makes me happier than a big ole bag of wool
    rare breed wool at that.
    ummm-hummm!

nothing makes me unhappier than being a disc golf widow. but, hells the sun came out today! (not that rain has been known to stop my boy from playing.. i think he played 7 out of the last 10 days.)

i might dissapear for a few days, beginning tomorrow. apparently my isp is going to be having some issues… (humm, me paying them, perhaps..?)

on the off chance, Either or You read this… it was kick ass to see you both. and, i think it was said, a few times, but the more things change the more they stay the same…

and on the seventh day, someone said “and let there be only more rain”

    May 19th, 2006

our scene begins, on a dark and gloomy morning, someplace in the woods of vermont. where our heroine has been subjected to seven straight days of rain.

    *loud knock*

’suse me ma’m, we have some reports of some violations here.

pardon me sherrif, but i’m unawares of any violations here. i’m just going about my day.

just take a look over yonder, ma’m

    *laughs*
that is just my spinning, sherrif.

exactly, ma’m. or should i say, perp.
look at this! you put ramie in with silk sari and angora?!
do i even need to mention the abuse of *tinkle*?
that alone violates most laws of good taste.

’scuse me, sheriff; but isn’t taste subjective???
it’s a fine lace weight yarn.

    *in a stern voice*
    that may be, missy.
but, do you have plans for this yarn?

    *getting sweaty*
    um, plans, why, no…

    *growing increasingly irritated*
    i see.
well, don’t you have plans to meet with people you haven’t seen in 10 years, today?
and you are still un showered

    *chuckles*
well, anyone who knows me, knows i stink.

    *YELLING*
that is beside the point, where are your priorities?!
don’t you have deadlines? things that you need to do.

    *hangs head in shame*
yes, but you don’t understand… i was compelled!

ahh, i see, compulsion, an addict, eh?
    *sniffs arround*

is that HEMP!?! you put hemp in this yarn??… that’s it missy. it’s all over for you…

    *trying to defend herself*
but, it’s european hemp, sheriff.. we don’t buy hemp from china.

that’s it lady, i’m calling the u-haul and we are confiscating your stash.

    *gets faint*
    NO!
    anything but that
take my children, take the coke-a-cola i have stashed in the fridge..
anything! i’ll give you anything, just leave my fibers!!

    *lights dim*
    *curtian closes*

it too can happen to you, next time it rains for 7 straight days, watch your back

    good sometimes wins!

    May 18th, 2006

    firstly! yay! the hippies won!!!
    second…
i’ve updated the shop with 4 new colorways of handpainted sock yarns

all are superwash, and one is from the very lush ‘louet gems’ yarn.

third, because bravenet stinks (or got blacklisted by a bunch of isp’s, i’ve had over 50% of this week’s news letter bounce back! so, if you haven’t already hooked yourself up with the new one, you can do so here! and hook yourself up with the html version, so i can send you pictures, to see if it is worth your while:))

ok! many tasks to get done today.
patterns to edit and items to felt.

    water dissolving…and water removing

    May 17th, 2006

you may have won the battle, but i won the war
to quote my mullet brethren joe dirt..

(i suppose i have a reverse mullet tho, all long in the front, and short all over…)
the battle of the sock yarn is over.

    hester
purpley plumbs with a rosey lavender and brown
    500 yards
    4oz
    80% wool
    20% nylon

    strange days
    burnt orange, brown and purple.
    500 yards
    4oz
    80% wool
    20% nylon

this is the one that gave me a big headache.. but it also looked like the layout of my dye o rama swappee’s blog… now, i’ve already outed myself, but we are both pretending i haven’t. like santa. i’ve never done one of these anonymous internet swappy deals, but my slice, scout asked if i would, so, hells yes. and wow! what a popular swap it has turned into. i digress, this yarn had me in such a tissy, i had to leave the house and go get, my achilles’ heel, coke-a-cola… i’ve been weaned for over a year, but, i had one in NH, and well, the cycle has begun again. humph.. but, while i was in the car, i heard that mark knopfler emmylou harris. song, “this is us”; I.LOVE.THAT.SONG (i never thought i’d say i’d like anything bymark knopfler, but this song has such a johnny and roseanne feel to it.. it made me boogie in my seat whilst driving… not much does that. (becides the dead, and i don’t like much new music becides the likes of drive by truckers.. so yea..

well, i’m missing the season finale of the the amazing race! go hippies!!
really, the frat boys can not win! yuck-o!

same as it ever was…same as it ever was…same as it ever was…
