impeach NOW!

April 30th, 2006

as promised, some dye pot baby photos.

i think i’ll be turning this one into a bulky thick and thin single

it’s called
impeach
because the world would be a much brighter and colorful place if we could get rid of the resident.

this one was a “whoops-y”
i was jonesing to do some atomic kitchen dyeing… and i’ve been out of black acid dyes.
so, i used some fiber reactive stuff… (they claim you can use them like acid dyes as well.)
well, it broke to high hell.

atomic whoops

i have a few ideas of how i wanna turn this whoops into a wow.

i woke up LATE this morning, to QUIET!
my beautiful baby daddy had taken the kids out!!! it isn’t even mother’s day or my birthday!

not so much on today’s agenda. the house has gotten trashed from general neglect. it would be really awesome to tidy up and start the new week out in a clean abode.

no human is illegal

April 29th, 2006

sheesh! late night blogging! i fear if i don’t keep up my posting, my blog mojo will go by-bye.
then it will be weeks again with nary a word.
can’t have that!

today, with all my looming deadlines, why in the name that is good and holy would i spend all day in a car with my darling matty, and two children?.. (one of whom managed to get carsick??) oh! yarn you say? tag sales? ahhh…
we hit every tag sale we could find from here to essex junction. with only one wild goose chace in hungtion..
hungtion is very odd. the class divisions are striking. either you have lots of money, or you have none.
that was how it was when we lived out stowe way. i would see folx drive down the road in their hummers, while we were eating lentils and rice.
(i have nothing against lentils and rice, but there are only so many ways you can cook them 7 days a week.)
i digress….
we, er, i was on a yarn mission. firstly, a stop at north east fiber arts.. (she deserves no linking action, as i wouldn’t recommend that shop to my worst enemy.) if miss gultch were blond, she would work there. fooey.
AS ALWAYS, she was rude to me, and i bought not a thing. in fact i didn’t get much past the counter, when she pounced on me in her blase way to ask me if i needed help. i walked out mumbiling something under my breath that i won’t repeat here. (mainly because i’ve forgotten it)
by the time we made our way to the extra beautiful kaleidoscope yarns the kids were wild monkey people. the sales womyn was beautiful and gracious, and totally tolerated the wild wildebeests children and didn’t cringe when they RAN! around. (yes, they were running… i was so ingrossed in yarn talk with the womyn working, that i lost track of keeping them well manered.. plus, that was what the matt-ster was along for, right?????… well, no, he was in on the yarn chatter too. AYE!) anyway. we had to leave before i could pick up anything… (ie: we had to leave in a big hurry for fear of the wildebeests children destroying a koigu shall.)
*sigh* one day, one day they will be in college!

when we returned to the pippi abode, i had a great super dooper package from dayna aka the scientist of craft
behold my new putter!

there were also 100 kinds of other crafty scientist goodies in there, but my wildebeests children ran off with them promptly. i didn’t even get to read you letter dayna, until the eldest went to bed. she was clutching it like it was a rare gem. (the paper was indeed that pretty!!) i did test her out in our back yard.. (it is handy to have a inova basket!) so it got a bit dinged up. smatthew laughed at me after my first ching, and said ‘it’s a putter, it is supposed to get dinged up’ but anyhoo! it is far lighter than any of the putters i’ve used, so i have been trowing way off to the right.

for those of you who have not fallen asleep. FIBER PICTURES!

some color work blending.

i took these pictures and wrote a few words for rachel-marie’s print zine, ’spindie’.

i also got my picture taken alot today!
look! it’s me!

THIS! on the other hand IS NOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they won’t even let me into canada.. (although, i DO fantasize about immigrating. but that part of me who desires to make things better will stay here and fight the good fight.)

so, my knitty project is almost done.. oh! yea! except for the knitting part of it. (hence my excuse need to get to kaleidoscope yarns… but, i guess i’m going to have to use something from ye ole stash.)

i’ll post some pictures of some dyepot babies tomorrow. i want to keep up my promise to myself that i would blog every day… and it is nearly midnight. (but, hell! i’ve been away from the computer, and nary answered a single email all day.~~ i’ll get on that now!)
i would also like to hug and kiss and BIG thank lovely betsy for ’splain bloglines to me reaaaal.ssllllllloooooo.like. it has made my world so much easier… extra atomic kitchens for you my dear!

big post script..

help me enable you to enable me to enable you.

free shipping on all my sock yarns… i need to place a few orders!!

from the dyepot region of vermont.

April 28th, 2006

the faint sound of bubbling and churning; the aroma of vinegar in the air (um, eeew)…
it can only mean one thing… i’ve been dyeing.
i did these yesterday.

wonka
it really tickles me in the part of the brain that also responds to chocolate.. (what did that commercial call it.. the chocolate zone??)

and

a little bird told me

~
is my knitting really that awful?
i suppose i’ll always be better at spinning than knitting.
but come-on! those were made while living without water (hello toilet!),electricity, internet, lol.

the bubbling and churning has gotten rapid now, time to get at it!

hat army!

April 27th, 2006

so i was cleaning earlier.. (don’t look soo shocked.. occasionally, it happens, especially when i need to find a place to put my 200 lbs of wool) and came across some of my ‘hat army’ which i made while living off grid.. (sounds so much nicer than three+ months of a living hell..)

there are more, but who knows where they hid themselves.

the peach hat

i’m really pleased at the way the top worked out!

a hat in choco bunny colors

this was the first “hi/low” yarn i made.

last, but not least the blue hat.
i really love this yarn. to bits. but the hat is very unflattering and i don’t have the heart to frog it.

i have a ‘update hang-over’ today, but all my boxes are shipped, thank you!
oh! speaking of shipping, i’m offering free shipping on my hand painted sock yarn… only till monday, i think. (you too can help feed my sock yarn and dye habit.)

i guess i should get back to ‘cleaning’ and not surfing the interweb!

updatey!

April 26th, 2006

new and exciting things have been added to the shop
i’m pleased to announce that hand painted sock yarns! are here!

2 two ply yarns have been added

5 bulky yarns
and
two art yarns

along with a bunch of handpainted rovings!

enjoy! and happy creating!

no rain today?

April 25th, 2006

wow! 4 days in a row! perhaps my leaf turning is happening!
a recent turn of events has left me with more wool top than i really need at the moment.
got to love when you forget something is on backorder, and then shows up at your door.
it’s like xmass!

anyway, some recent dyed efforts.

natural mystic
(i’ve been very partial to these colors as of late..)

and

brambled

i dyed a bunch more up last night.
i’ve blasted thru dyes this week.

ok! things to do people to see.
(OK! not really, who am i fooling.. it is more like coffee to drink, breakfast to make. kids to heard.)

do i have my blog mojo back?

April 24th, 2006

happy monday!
a new week, and hopefully a new perspective for me. i’ve been in some sort of funk. hormones, possibly.
i’ve been trying to ween the ‘baby’ (big air quotes, cuz he is 2.5…) it is going well, but i forgot the mood swings that come with this whole process.

anyway, we still are having grey and overcast!
i made this bright hank over the weekend!

scarlet->fire
198 yards
bulky

it seemed like everyone wanted to know the type of sock yarn i’m using.
it is louet gems pearl. it is PRIMO! (and i don’t say that lightly.)
i put some undyed stuff here and i would have put more up, but i just don’t have much… (i haven’t added the hand paints yet, those will go up on wed.)

sock it to me!

April 23rd, 2006

i’ve dyed some more of the lush superwash sock yarn up yesterday & the night before last.
i did some of my recent favorite colorways…

vox

and

natural mystic

i guess i’m gearing up for the dye o rama swap that my mama pal scout helped put together.

i hear that boogie dyed up 30 of these lush hanks of yarn this week! they are totally addictive, they take dye so nicely and are soft soft soft. (not to mention superwash.!)

time to get lunch on! hopefully the rain will let up at somepoint today!
