rustic yarn

December 11th, 2005
i have mentioned that i did do a hair of spinning and dyeing over my, well, let’s call it hiatus. (sounds better than exile & i can’t think of any other words to describe the past few months.
with water hauled from the well & dye pots placed on our wood stove
i present, the melmin collection.

2 skeins of 2 ply & one bulky t&t.

i’m unsure of how i’m going to utilize it. i’ve already made a variable army of hats, most of which are being sent off to the mitten tree. i’ve also made a bunch of socks (including socks from some bulky 2 ply that i spun up from random scraps i had in my vast collection of wool that anxiously awaits to be drum carded. one day, ohhh lordissa, one day.)
~as soon as i find the pair of socks that i made from less than 140 yards of 2 ply bulky, i’ll post a pic and try to get a pattern out. they are uber warm & great for the chilly mornings & shockingly not unconformable in my boots. they are just anklets and knit up in about 4 hours. humm, the allure of the quick knit makes me now want to turn this yarn into socks. haha. (/thinking out loud)

hope everyone is having a brilliant day!
the sun is out here, and the wind seems calm.
