random acts of knitting
look, up on the size 10 circs, it’s a wrap, no! it’s a lap blanket, no! it’s a rocking chair cozy!

it is a complete exersize in randomness.
i spun the first of the yarn for fiber friday a few weeks back, when the topic was storms. the first yarn was called…… ‘hurricane izabella’ haha.
anyway, i just took random bits of scraps and spun them up, throwing caution and my tastes out the window.

it was actauly really hard to grab random handfulls of ‘waste’ and spin them up, without trying to acihive a specific yarn weight. but i think what was even harder was the whole color thing.
normally, the color palate needs to make sense to me

some of it works and some of it dosen’t. clearly. but maybe it will all balance out in that chaotic way. (hrumm, maybe not.) also, once it is blocked, the open YO’s will show and that may add, in a positive way, to the random.
but a good exersize in getting me to think outside my palate.
i tried to spin up some random colors for a 2 ply last night and i couldn’t get past the first color repeat before i wound it off the bobbin and gave up. (haha! i realize that even having a color repeat isn’t too random, but, baby steps! baby steps!)i have some more work to do to get out of my box. i’m very set in my ways about what i think works and will knit up nice.
still hot and murky here today. although, the bad humidity broke a bit and you can actually breathe when you go outside.
the trick is getting wool to dry in soupy air!
