i am washer womyn, hear me roar!

July 31st, 2005
it’s washin’ day today.

it may take me the rest of the day to wash, whack and hang it all.
maybe even longer since my arms are hurting.
we had a family outing to center chains , which, is our local disk golf course. ~~ in case anyone is wondering, i pared nearly everything, except the 8th hole, and well, that wasn’t my fault. ha. a long boring story, that i won’t get into here. for fear of putting you to sleep.

i’m pretty determined to try to get pippi updated this coming week.
i think i’ll have to do all sales by email invoice, since the technology on my end is still very sketchy.
it may be a big ole pain in the tookas all-round, but i have to do something… i’m starting to feel completely stalled out.
and yarn may soon be taking over my house. seriously…. i have spun thru an entire bump of wool.

speaking of spinning, a glimpse of the spinning chaos. baby men nursing and toddler grrls treadling.

these were actually taken in hopes of keeping briar fiber from putting holes in his wall with his spindle. i don’t know how helpful they actually turned out to be.

in some other news of the random:
1. i’ve been getting an absurd amount of people googling my name. i only added it to the page about a month ago. i have to admit i’m a bit creeped out. especially after having had a stalker in my past.
i feel like putting up a page that says “so, you have googled “symeon north” what were you planning on finding? tales of woe? pornography?”
seriously.

2. i’m also a tad creeped out by someone googling “pippinkeesocks.gallery.html” and then downloading my entire gallery to their hard drive.

well, i best get to washing that yarn!

pass the coffee, please.

yesterday i frogged my random act of knitting and cast on a pinwheel blanket

i’m finding it lends itself to my random yarn much better than my idea.

no amount of pictures are able to capture the texture correctly.
i tried

but it winds up looking like it has a halo, which, it really does not.
i haven’t decided how large i’m going to make it. it isn’t like i’ll ever run out of this yarn.
(ha! it is made from ends, neeps, noils, everything that is ‘waste’ that normally wouldn’t go into my style of handspun yarn.)

it looks like it just maybe one of ‘those’ kinds of days here.
it seems everyone in these parts woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
including myself. i think my mood has to do with the weather dude lying to me (or whatever it is called when they say one thing then completely change the forecast a few hours later.) i woke up this morning, expecting it to have cooled down a bit from last night’s rain; only to find it like a sauna outside. a big bummer. i haven’t done any dyeing in about a week, and i doubt i’ll do any today. remind me of this in febuary, when it is -45.

random acts of knitting

i’m in a spell of conectivity again, so i thought i’d show a picture of this thing.
look, up on the size 10 circs, it’s a wrap, no! it’s a lap blanket, no! it’s a rocking chair cozy!

it is a complete exersize in randomness.
i spun the first of the yarn for fiber friday a few weeks back, when the topic was storms. the first yarn was called…… ‘hurricane izabella’ haha.
anyway, i just took random bits of scraps and spun them up, throwing caution and my tastes out the window.

it was actauly really hard to grab random handfulls of ‘waste’ and spin them up, without trying to acihive a specific yarn weight. but i think what was even harder was the whole color thing.
normally, the color palate needs to make sense to me

some of it works and some of it dosen’t. clearly. but maybe it will all balance out in that chaotic way. (hrumm, maybe not.) also, once it is blocked, the open YO’s will show and that may add, in a positive way, to the random.
but a good exersize in getting me to think outside my palate.
i tried to spin up some random colors for a 2 ply last night and i couldn’t get past the first color repeat before i wound it off the bobbin and gave up. (haha! i realize that even having a color repeat isn’t too random, but, baby steps! baby steps!)i have some more work to do to get out of my box. i’m very set in my ways about what i think works and will knit up nice.

still hot and murky here today. although, the bad humidity broke a bit and you can actually breathe when you go outside.
the trick is getting wool to dry in soupy air!

weeps

i am so ready to hit my computer with a hammer and call it a day.
it is pretty much impossible to run an internet biz without one. ha.
that said, this is the first time i’ve been able to access the internet since my last post.
boo-hiss.
my computer has basically become a fancy deck of cards (spider solitare)
it is very frustrating and it is making me increasingly cynical.
(not that i really needed any help in that department)

anyway, this is some of the spinning i’ve gotten done.
(not much more than the normal amount, possibly even less, due to my foul mood.)
but it is about 10 lbs

one day i hope to update my site again.
or just take it down completley, put my kids in daycare and go back to doing social work.
(seriously something has got to give.)

hopefully this will post & if i don’t hollar back, know that it isn’t me ignoring ya’ll, it is because the thing crapped out again. (bah & humbug!)

what a week!

July 1st, 2005

well, for those of you who don’t know, my computer totally died.
it is running on crutches right now. hopefully i can get it running well again soon!
i’m hoping the next time i update the handspun yarn shop will be next wed.

no fun pictures of yarn of fibers today.
i haven’t been able to hook my camera back up yet.
(i just got the printer working last night)
this whole thing is very frustrating!

i’ll be back soon!
