books and photos and yarn! oh my!

June 23rd, 2005

i’m hoping the “interweb” (lol) has fixed itself, & wondering if i have some crazy virus or something that my anti-virus isn’t picking up…. i hope not. the last thing i need is to have to get a new computer or something crazy like that!

i got some AWESOME mail on monday!
Teresa sent me this kick ass stationery

my day with knitgrrl (AKA, Shannon Okey) was wicked fun! she is so kind and personable, i had no spells people phobia, and didn’t even notice the bizillion pictures she took. (she mostly took photos of me spinning on the e-spinner)
izabella insisted on having photographs of her taken as well… she even insisted that shannon take a photo of the bottom of her foot.. :0

i did forget to take photos of the yarn i sent her home with, for her sweater for the book. now i have to really get to work on my project, (AKA, VSP) i was waiting on gettting a good blend for it, but it seems i won’t have a drum carder anytime soon, so, i’ll go all wool.

i should get on my shipping now, while i have an internet connection. (*knocks wood*). & maybe take the kids for a walk to get some cookies and apples. ummmm, cookies!

tumble down shack in bigfoot county, snowed so hard that the roof caved in….

June 22nd, 2005

a little known fact, i did a stealth update of pippi on Monday… and by stealth i mean, as soon as i got all of the files uploaded and such, my internet crapped out.
that made for a bit of panic to say the least!

another tom robbins-y update

another roadside attraction
worsted wt.

sissy hacksaw
bulky thick and thin

and of course, there is an even cowgirls get the blues

the internet man came today, and OF COURSE the thing was working fine.
*grumble*

today, being the day of visitors, knit grrl will be here at some point today.

more later! i just brewed up some iced tea & it is nearly cool!

i have some new yarn up at Cut+Paste

the link to my stuff on the main page isn’t working, so click here.

~
so, after our internet appeared to be working i canceled our service appointment. (mostly because i have bunches of work to be doing & really didn’t feel like stopping to clean the apartment in that clean for strangers way….) now, i’m back to shotty at best service. woot.
wondering if this will post. &&crosses fingers&&

yay! the internet!

June 15th, 2005

crazy! my internet service has been sporadic, at best, since Saturday.
today, after reading a bit of lj in the morning hours, i had no service whatsoever.
it is back on for now….
i’m so dependent on the internet! and for the outrageous price we pay for it, at least it can be reliable.
i spent about 45 minutes on the phone with a teck, who just said things like “ummmmm” and “ohhhhh”…. for them to tell me that they need to send someone out here, but it will be on Friday. um, yea! does me lots of good NOW. (at least i won’t have to wait a month or anything…) and lemme tell ya how much fun! it was to have the kids at a pay phone while i was ‘talking’ to teck support.
needless to say (needless??) i won’t be updating the handspun yarn section of pippi today.
it would be just murphys law, that the internet would go out & since i don’t have a data base, it would be a bit irresponcible, to say the least. all for the better, since i really wasn’t happy with the amount of yarns i had ready.

but i did update the customer creations page

so beautiful!

last but not least, the awful weather has broken.
but now it is dark and cold.
no happy medium!

hold your babies tight

from ariel gore
light a candle for alli

I just talked to Alli’s mom and she is helped immensely by the outpouring of love for Allison. She asks us to light Mary candles and incense for her daughter. She will let us know when the funeral plans are set, and those will be posted here and at girlmom.

She says: Alli’s legacy is one hurt person mended at a time. A woman who says to herself “Yes, I can.” Because someone not only said she could, but stood with her like Allison did. Injecting strength and hope and bravery into the sad tired heart.

A beautiful mom holding a beautiful baby..her chin up and the sun shining on her face, smiling and happy. Because she knew she had Alli on her side.

A legacy written on living hearts. That continues when love flows from the mommies she loved to the babies and the babies grow strong. And they love others.

She wanted to change the world.

Safety and enough for all and happiness.

She did her part well.

Please keep me and Cade and Glen and her sister in your best thoughts. And pray.

If people have tributes, pictures, notes, or stories about Alli for the next issue of Hip Mama, I would be honored if you would send them my way. Email: arielgore at earthlink.net or snail-mail P.O. Box 12525, Portland, OR 97212. Unless you instruct me otherwise, I’ll send the originals to Alli’s mom for Cade.

If anyone is planning benefits, you can email me for information on where to send contributions. A trust fund will be set up for Cade.

All love,
Ariel

the pippikneesocks family would like to express our love and condonlences to her family, her loving partner, Julie and her step son Dylan. our thoughts are with you.

in other news, i think i may melt from the heat today.

an able cable!

merino/Falklands
62 yards
my guess that this would be an aran/worsted wt.

now, i must get to cleaning (no laughing boogie!) i totally forgot, until yesterday, but my mother is coming for a visit this weekend…. our house is so not company ready!

electric success!

June 7th, 2005

i am so excited that the whole electric thing worked.
i was able to find the stop watch yesterday and determine that this yarn

aprox. 17 WPI
took me 4 hours total. (cutting my time down in half!)
singles were spun on the electric betty and i plied on my traddy.

i couldn’t stop myself from swatching. (it is about the only thing i’ve done today, due to a sick grrl chile)

5.5 st/in 33R= 4″ on US 2

the possibilities are endless.

and, yes, those are color coordinated aluminum needles.
aluminum needles are the unsung heroes of knitting.
always around in a pinch, easy to find in hoards at tag sales.
and colored like fiesta wear.
but then again, i’d knit with broom handles or pencils if i needed to.
and if they would let me on survivor, i could show jiffy pop a thing or two.
