April 25th, 2005

between the dim overcast skies and my kiddletts
it was nearly impossible to get my update done.
seriously, every time i sat down to work on it, someone needed something, or was into something, lest i forget all of the sibling drama as well.

tis a wee update, after the cold of doom we have been cursed with, i’m finding it difficult to go full steam ahead. (and, would you believe that i still have a sore throat?)

the music never stopped
460 yards of worsted singles.
(i secretly spun this one for myself)

throwin stones
this, you may notice, is what my fiber Friday
looks like plied with itself.

high tea
because, it is obvious that i can not escape fooling with pink.

in knitty news, i have yet to finish sock #2 from perfect peach.
i suppose i’ve hit a lag after having to frog 2 hours worth of knitting.
no time today to work on it, spinning and shipping to get done.

fresh off the bobbins, Fiber Friday & earth day!

April 22nd, 2005

so, i spoke of my very special project yarn.
well, i just wound it off the bobbins.

it isn’t washed up yet, as it is, 14 WPI.

it is pretty deep in colors, and in the color play sense, not the depth of the tones.
sadly, i’m going to have to put this one on pippi.
circumstances and all. plus! the VSP isn’t due until September, so i have plenty of time to make more yarn for it.

today is FRIDAY! that means…… Fiber Friday!
i haven’t posted a Fiber Friday of mine here in a few weeks, so…… ta-dum!

throwin’ stones ashes, ashes, all fall down
handspun, hand painted mixed wools, bulky weight.
aprox. 50 yards

inspiration:

Picture a bright blue ball, just spinning, spinnin free,
Dizzy with eternity.
Paint it with a skin of sky,
Brush in some clouds and sea,
Call it home for you and me.
A peaceful place or so it looks from space,
A closer look reveals the human race.
Full of hope, full of grace
Is the human face,
But afraid we may lay our home to waste.

There’s a fear down here we can’t forget.
Hasn’t got a name just yet.
Always awake, always around,
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.

Now watch as the ball revolves
And the nighttime falls.
Again the hunt begins,
Again the bloodwind calls.
By and by, the morning sun will rise,
But the darkness never goes
From some men’s eyes.
It strolls the sidewalks and it rolls the streets,
Staking turf, dividing up meat.
Nightmare spook, piece of heat,
It’s you and me.
You and me.

Click flash blade in ghetto night,
Rudies looking for a fight.
Rat cat alley, roll them bones.
Need that cash to feed that jones.
And the politicians throwin’ stones,
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.

Commissars and pin-stripe bosses
Roll the dice.
Any way they fall,
Guess who gets to pay the price.
Money green or proletarian gray,
Selling guns ’stead of food today.

So the kids they dance
And shake their bones,
And the politicians throwin’ stones,
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.

Heartless powers try to tell us
What to think.
If the spirit’s sleeping,
Then the flesh is ink
History’s page will thus be carved in stone.
And we are here, and we are on our own
On our own.
On our own.
On our own.

If the game is lost,
Then we’re all the same.
No one left to place or take the blame.
We can leave this place and empty stone
Or that shinin’ ball we used to call our home.

So the kids they dance
And shake their bones,
And the politicians throwin’ stones,
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.

Shipping powders back and forth
Singing black goes south and white comes north.
In a whole world full of petty wars
Singing I got mine and you got yours.
And the current fashion sets the pace,
Lose your step, fall out of grace.
And the radical, he rant and rage,
Singing someone’s got to turn the page.
And the rich man in his summer home,
Singing just leave well enough alone.
But his pants are down, his cover’s blown…

And the politicians throwin’ stones,
So the kids they dance
And shake their bones,
And it’s all too clear we’re on our own.
Singing ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.

Picture a bright blue ball,
Just spinnin’, spinnin, free.
Dizzy with the possibilities.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.
Ashes, ashes, all fall down.

very appropriate since today is earth day!
we will be having some family festivities and whatnot later, to celebrate the mother we thrive on.

i got the best mail love yesterday from deb

i was so excited upon walking back from the mail box!

~in their new habitats…..

(see, i actually wear no PINK clothing, my wardrobe is mostly tan, brown, grey & black… as boogie said yesterday, seeing the colors on wool makes a body falll madly in love with them… hopefully one day, i’ll be able to expand my color horizon.)

my favorite.
i love! love! love! these dresses of hers.
very ironic, becuase i rarely wear dresses.

in other happenings, i’ve begun work on a very special project.
details will be released on a need to know basis. (lol)
i’m just a firm believer in murphy & his dang law, so i won’t breathe much more about this until about september.

there is the bellarina, having to get into the shot.

a close up.
i will say it is for a sock. and it will be plied with PINK!

it is monday again!

April 18th, 2005

the cold of doom is still lingering!
but i did manage to update pippi today.
it took a lot out of me!

this was the yarn from my last entry that was hanging up to dry.

garden study

and i have a bunch! of these:

springtime choco bird in the sun
in soft Falklands! (it might be the very last of them, at least on my page.)

on the bulky page
there is

wine, women and song

and to honor boogie’s tan craving…..

painted desert
most women get food cravings when they are expecting, boogie gets yarn cravings. hah!
and almost tanish…

painted desert, the 2 ply

well, i should get going, i have a sock begging to be finished… er, i mean, the kids would like to go outside and play.

happy Monday!

what a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

April 16th, 2005

wow! finally all of our back yard snow has melted,
the sun is beaming and yarn can officially be hung out to dry.
haha.

(although, it will get below freezing tonight.)

i did have to frog an entire afternoon’s worth of knitting.
in my arrogance, i messed up my gusset on my second sock.
it was one of those “what in the hell was i thinking?!?” moments.
i blame my not paying attention to making sure my 3 year old didn’t jump off of the swing set and land on her wee brother.
*who now can climb up the slide and slide down, all on his own!
where does the time go?

in other news, we are all still ill.
the boy kept me up all night, with his wee sick self
i’m feeling the effects and not getting much fiber stuffs done.
(and well, even what i did do, ~ my knitting~ i messed up.)
mercury isn’t even retrograde anymore.
at least my sense of color seems to be back on track.

thursday again!

April 7th, 2005

yesterday was such a beautiful day, outside.
inside i was struggling much with myself and things of the like.
when in doubt, cast on!
i’m terribly bored with everything in my WIP basket(s), and nothing in those is from my yarn.
i decided to use this

perfect peach

turned it into this

with my fancy ball winder.

after a few swatches, i cast on a…….
a……
…………………………..shawl! yes, i did.

because, you know everyone is doing it.

i think i worked on it for a total of five minutes,
broke the yarn off,
immediately grabbing a mixed matched set of size 3’s,
cast on 44 stitches…..
ahhhhhhhhhhh.
the old stand by, my comfort food of knitting.
socks.

much better.
plus! i need something small to tote along when i take the kids out to tBYoD
since i can’t really bring my spinning out there.
maybe a babes would be great to have to tote outside.

i’m liking the way it is working up

more so than i thought i would.
last year, i sold off my favorite yarn, this year i gave my favorite yarn away.
so much yarn passes thru my fingers that i don’t get to use but would love to.
like this one:

i’ve been stopping myself from winding it up.
i’m going to give it another week or so on the page.
hopefully, these socks will fill my jones.
i’m really loving the orange/yellow/pink thing.(if it isn’t apparent.)

i should have the first sock finished tonight.
(i think i’m going to make it a shorty clog sock)
since thursday has been my traditional tee vee and knitting night.
but, i have much spinning to do.
so torn, so torn….

murphys law? mercury retrograde?

April 4th, 2005

what a blasted day!
i’m so frustrated, tired, and grumped out.
and i should have waited until tomorrow to update my site. i’ll never learn!
today, while taking my photos for my update, my son decided to use the USB cord to teeh on. let me be the first to say, they wern’t made for that, who knew?
long, painful story short, it is pretty broken.
i was able to get it to work a few times, and got some pictures off of the camera.
i’m now in the market for a card reader……. any suggestions?

anyway, lots and lots of stuff this week

bouquet

skywalker

sally’s gingham dress

hopefully, the rain will stop, and the clouds will stop following me around!
now, to make some noodles!

only fools rush in

April 1st, 2005
